SC: Accused can't be convicted merely on ground of suspicion

The Supreme Court acquitted a man in a 15-year-old murder case, overturning his earlier conviction and life imprisonment sentence. The bench, comprising Justices B R Gavai and Sandeep Mehta, stated that the prosecution failed to establish the charges, and both the trial court and Chhattisgarh High Court erred in convicting the accused without direct evidence of guilt.

An Indian warship once again came to the aid of a merchant vessel in Gulf of Aden, which was hit by a ballistic missile fired by Houthi rebels of Yemen on Friday night.The NBCD (nuclear, biological and chemical damage control) team, with fire-fighting equipment, from guided-missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam boarded Marshall Island-flagged Marlin Luanda to help the 22 Indian and one Bangladeshi crew members on board the tanker on Saturday.

Ramayana set to be taught in Uttarakhand madrassas: Waqf board

The story of Lord Ram will be made a part of the new syllabus for madrassas affiliated to the Uttarakhand Waqf Board from the new academic session commencing this year. Of the 117 madrassas under the board, the new syllabus will be introduced initially in four madrassas in Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts. After the recruitment of teachers, it would be taken up in the remaining 113 madrassas, officials said.
