Navjeet Sandhu, from Karnal was stabbed to death Sunday in Melbourne. He had moved to Australia on a study visa in Nov 2022. The murder has been linked to student rivalry and two brothers from Haryana have been accused of the murder. Both are absconding. "I received a call at around 2 am on Sunday from Navjeet's friends. They told us that he had been killed.

Two of three suspects held by Canada over last year's murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar come from well off families in Punjab and had gone overseas on study visas, following a trend common in the state. Their kin expressed shock at the arrests & were confident that they will be cleared in court. While Kamalpreet Singh (23) was in Canada for studies and comes from a farmer's family in Jalandhar, relatives of Karanpreet Singh (28) are also agriculturists and say he worked as a driver.

Chamoli district police have arrested three men from Bihar for allegedly starting a forest fire in the district's Gairsain area, approximately 260km from Dehradun, and uploading a video of the incident on social media to "get more views". The arrest was done on Saturday evening after police took suo-motu cognisance of the video making rounds online, officials said.

After surviving a complicated neurosurgery, a man passed away due to cardiac arrest induced by an extra dose of anaesthesia administered at a private scanning centre in Kilpauk, Chennai. Fifteen years later, the family won a legal battle at district consumer disputes redressal forum in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, against the scanning centre and secured Rs 15 lakhs as compensation.
